Awards & Prizes
Eligibility for awards and prizes is subject to local rules, laws and regulations partaining to the specific country of the entrant.
The Universal Pictures Grand Prize
A Summer 2007 Internship at Universal Pictures
A summer 2007 internship at Universal Pictures will be awarded to a single filmmaker selected by the senior production team at Universal from among the finalists of FYI 2007. The term of the internship is flexible to the student's schedule, starting after June 25 and up to August 25. The internship is for approximately 30 hours per week, within the film production department of the studio. Requirements for eligibility for the internship are as follows: the student must be a sophomore or higher, enrolled in an accredited college or university full–time, and be attending school in the fall of 2007, following the internship. If there is more than one filmmaker of the film selected by Universal Pictures, the filmmaking team will select amongst themselves for the single filmmaker to be eligible to receive the internship. The filmmaker will be responsible for his/her own accommodations and transportation to and within Los Angeles.
The FYI – Yahoo! Audience Awards
Audience Award for American Film
A Trip to New York to Attend the FYI 2007 Awards Ceremony at United Nations Headquarters, and the entry broadcast on STARZ, STARZ Edge and STARZ Cinema.
The filmmaker of the top-voted U.S. entry from public voting online at Yahoo! will receive a trip to New York City, accommodations and airfare included, to attend the FYI– FILM YOUR ISSUE 2007 Awards Ceremony at United Nations Headquarters in June. The cocktail reception will take place in the Delegates Dining Room of the United Nations building. FYI will arrange for coach airfare and two nights accommodations, transfers and meals not included. If there is more than one filmmaker credited to the winning film, the filmmaking team will select amongst themselves a single filmmaker to receive the paid trip to New York. Additional filmmakers will cover their own expenses to attend the FYI Award ceremony.
Audience Award for Foreign Film
The top-voted non-U.S. entry within the category of Audience Award for Foreign Film will be broadcast on STARZ, STARZ Edge and STARZ Cinema. The filmmaker of the top-voted non-U.S. entry from public voting online at Jumpcut, a Yahoo! company, will be honored at an Awards Ceremony at a United Nations office located nearest to the filmmaker's residence in August. Travel to the Awards Ceremony, accommodations, transfers and meals not included.
The FYI 2007 VIP Jury Awards
A Trip for Three Top Finalists to New York to Attend the FYI 2007 Awards Ceremony at United Nations headquarters, and the entries broadcast on STARZ, STARZ Edge and STARZ Cinema.
Three filmmakers of the three top–voted entries selected by the VIP Judges and ThinkTank will each receive a trip to New York City, accommodations and airfare included, to attend the FYI FILM YOUR ISSUE 2007 Awards Ceremony at United Nations Headquarters in June 2007. The cocktail reception will take place in the Delegates Dining Room of the United Nations building. FYI will arrange for coach airfare and two nights accommodations, transfers and meals not included. If there is more than one filmmaker credited to a selected film, the filmmaking team will select amongst themselves a single filmmaker to receive the paid trip to New York. Additional filmmakers will cover their own expenses to attend the FYI Award ceremony.
The FYI – Humane Society Award
A Trip to New York to Attend the FYI 2007 Awards Ceremony at United Nations headquarters, the entry broadcast on STARZ, STARZ Edge and STARZ Cinema, and posted on the Humane Society of the United States website.
The filmmaker of a single entry selected by the senior executive team of The Humane Society of the United States will receive a trip to New York City, accommodations and airfare included, to attend the FYI FILM YOUR ISSUE 2007 Awards Ceremony at United Nations Headquarters in June 2007. The cocktail reception will take place in the Delegates Dining Room of the United Nations building. FYI will arrange for coach airfare and two nights accommodations, transfers and meals not included. If there is more than one filmmaker credited to the winning film, the filmmaking team will select amongst themselves for a single filmmaker to receive the paid trip to New York. Additional filmmakers will cover their own expenses to attend the FYI Award ceremony.
The FYI – NRDC Healthy Planet Award
Trip to New York to Attend the FYI 2007 Awards Ceremony at United Nations headquarters, the entry broadcast on STARZ, STARZ Edge and STARZ Cinema, and posted on the Natural Resources Defense Council website.
The filmmaker of a single entry selected by the senior executive team of The Natural Resources Defense Council will receive a trip to New York City, accommodations and airfare included, to attend the FYI FILM YOUR ISSUE 2007 Awards Ceremony at United Nations Headquarters in June 2007. The cocktail reception will take place in the Delegates Dining Room of the United Nations building. FYI will arrange for coach airfare and two nights accommodations, transfers and meals not included. If there is more than one filmmaker credited to the winning film, the filmmaking team will select amongst themselves a single filmmaker to receive the paid trip to New York. Additional filmmakers will cover their own expenses to attend the FYI Award ceremony.
The FYI – U.N. Global Award
Trip to New York to Attend the FYI 2007 Awards Ceremony at United Nations headquarters, the entry broadcast on STARZ, STARZ Edge and STARZ Cinema, and presented within United Nations headquarters for viewing by international Ambassadors.
The filmmaker of a single entry selected by the senior executive team of The United Nations will receive a trip to New York City, accommodations and airfare included, to attend the FYI FILM YOUR ISSUE 2007 Awards Ceremony at United Nations Headquarters in June 2007. The cocktail reception will take place in the Delegates Dining Room of the United Nations building. FYI will arrange for coach airfare and two nights accommodations, transfers and meals not included. The Walter Cronkite Civic Engagement Leadership Award – to an Outstanding University
Named for the legendary news anchor and Distinguished Jurist of FYI, The Walter Cronkite Civic Engagement Leadership Award will celebrate a single institution, faculty or department for excellence in encouraging civic engagement, including participation in FYI Film Your Issue, Speak Your Issue and Write Your Issue. The Award will be presented during the FYI FILM YOUR ISSUE 2007 Awards Ceremony at United Nations Headquarters in June 2007.
ADDITIONAL PRIZES
All the semi-finalists will be screened at the Maui Film Festival.
