The coming decade may be our last chance to head-off environmental crises like global warming, the collapse of the world's oceans, and the widespread loss of biodiversity. Science is telling us loud and clear that if we fail to address these problems in the next ten years, this window of opportunity will shut forever, and the cost of our inaction could be devastating. We can choose a different future, but we've got to do it quickly and each of us must play a part.
That's why the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) is teaming up with FYI – FILM YOUR ISSUE, encouraging new talent and vision in the movement for sustainability and stewardship of the Earth.
NRDC is the nation's most effective environmental action organization. We use law, science and the support of 1.2 million members and online activists to ensure a safe and healthy environment for all living things. Or as Jack Black put it: NRDC is "kick-ass because they sue the crap out of b-holes."
What can you do?
NRDC invites you to produce a short movie that informs, challenges, inspires or questions. Through the power of film, your creativity could help achieve a more hopeful future for our planet. And remember, the environment isn't just a distant forest or jungle, it's the head of lettuce in your sink and the next breath you take.
