2008 Competition: Issues

Documentary Filmmaking Award - SILVERDOCS: AFI/Discovery Channel Documentary Festival

We are excited about working with you on FYI 2008 as we both share similar goals — promoting socially conscious media and engaging young people in what Al Gore calls "the marketplace of ideas."

We at SILVERDOCS: AFI/Discovery Channel, will select the winner from the 2008 submissions based on the following criteria:

  • Films with a documentary — i.e. not pre-scripted — approach
  • Mastery of filmmaking/visual storytelling
  • Clarity of message

We at SILVERDOCS celebrate the creative vision of independent filmmakers and the power of documentary to expand our world-view and enhance our understanding of the world around us. Entering its sixth year, SILVERDOCS has become the most talked about documentary festival in the United States.

One winner will receive VIP pass 2008 Festival and Conference running June 18 to 21, and film screened at a panel at the festival. The winning film will be posted on the SILVERDOCS website.
