2008 Competition: Issues

2008 U.S. Presidential Election Issues - PBS' P.O.V.

We want your point of view!

P.O.V. (a cinematic term for "point of view") is dedicated to premiering some of the best, boldest and most innovative nonfiction programs every year on PBS. We are known for putting a human face on pressing contemporary issues and, in 2008, what is more compelling than our nation's presidential election, and the issues on the minds of voters and candidates?

As a leading broadcaster of social issue documentary films, we are partnering with FYI - Film Your Issue to encourage talented young visionaries to produce work that addresses issues surfacing in this election cycle.

We want diverse voices that represent and speak to all aspects of society.

Some tips - make sure your point of view comes across clearly - be bold and creative in your storytelling and present a unique voice. Try not to be didactic - remember you want to engage people who may even disagree with you!

Our 2008 season line-up will feature films that touch on the following subjects — though your films can be based on these topics or address different ones, as long as they are relevant to the 2008 election:

  • Education
  • Election Reform
  • Environment
  • Foreign Policy and the war
  • Health Care
  • Immigration
  • Please visit our website for more information about our series. We look forward to seeing your films!
