Any issue — and some choices!

This competition is meant to tap into your existing passions for current and pressing issues, or provoke you to examine what other issues out there call to you, in a personal way.

The issue can be down the street, in your own home, or across the globe.

Below, we offer a sampling of some organizations, causes, issues and resources to stimulate ideas for films. This is a work in progress; we will continue to add to it! Please send us your own suggestions for issues and links.

We have also suggested five categories, in association with the U.N., The Humane Society of the United States, A.S.C.A.P., the USC Center on Public Diplomacy, and MSN Spaces:

• U.N. Millennium Goals/Global Issues
• Arts as Bridge
• Animal Welfare
• Music-Driven
• Film and New Media

Although our initial intention was to divide judging of the films in separate categories, because of the overwhelming number of entries in the general category, we have decided that all the films will be narrowed into the 35 semi-finalists, and five winners will be selected.
